Like many other small businesses in America, our story started with a dream.
While a student at The City University of New York back in 1983, I was working as a waiter at a local restaurant, Clam’s Casino, in Fort Lee, NJ where I was befriended by many of the customers I served.
One day, one of my customers asked how much money he should leave as a tip: I said to him to leave as much as he could afford. Then he asked what I was going to do with all that money. I told him that I would be paying off my college tuition. I explained that whatever money was leftover would be used to make my American dream a reality, which was to open a “Gold Factory.” The dream of opening a gold factory came to me by meeting Eddie Delshad who was a regular customer at the restaurant. Eddie and I eventually became close friends and he introduced me to the jewelry industry.
From 1983 until 1995 I worked as an independent salesman representing various jewelry companies and established Nurco Settings in the jewelry district on 47 th street of New York City.
Towards the end of 1995, Nurco Settings ceased operations and I went to work for different industries. But the dream of opening a gold factory never left me: in 2003 I came back to the jewelry industry and established Nurco Castings.
Today I am proud and humbled to say that our dream is a reality in part by your great support. I had a chance to get to know and serve the majority of our customers personally, since we opened our doors. Every day when we take orders, we strive to help every one of our customers close their special order sales. We aim to be instrumental in helping our customers make their dreams come true, one customer at a time.
